Through the House and now the Senate, on to the governor’s desk goes a bill at improving energy costs for building projects.
Members of the Senate Commerce and Energy committee initially passed HB 1032, which revises certain provisions regarding guaranteed energy savings contracts, on a 6-0 vote and the full Senate sent the bill on to Gov. Daugaard on a 33-0 vote.
During previous committee hearings on the bill, S.D. Bureau of Administration State Engineer Kristi Honeywell said the bill aligns current state statute with updated industry procedures and noted the updates could assist school districts, as well as other entities, in building projects “even if they don’t have the upfront funding.”
ASBSD is monitoring HB 1032, which now awaits the governor’s signature to become law.
