Two board meeting bills pass in the House

Two unanimous votes were cast by the House in favor of bills related to school board meetings on Tuesday (2/3).

House Bill 1091, which would require meeting minutes of any board or commission to include a record of how each individual voted, was passed by House members.

“This is not just about transparency, but about ease of finding information” Rep. Jim Bolin, the bill’s sponsor, said.

ASBSD is monitoring the bill.

House members also favored House Bill 1125, which requires a governmental entity to post their meeting agenda in a public place for a continuous 24-hour period prior to the meeting.

ASBSD supports the bill and testified in its favor during its committee hearing
