Director Elections
The ASBSD Board of Directors is made up of duly-elected school board members elected by local school boards to serve in one of four geographic regions and from five different school size categories. Director elections are staggered so each region holds an election once a year.
ASBSD encourages local board members to consider adding a statewide role to their leadership resume. Interested school board members can learn more about running for a position on the ASBSD Board of Directors by reviewing the links and documents to the right.
Candidates for the ASBSD Board of Directors are nominated during the ASBSD Delegate Assembly, held each year in November. If necessary, paper ballots are sent to each school board following Delegate Assembly, and new school board members take office the following January.
In order to run for the ASBSD Board of Directors, interested candidates must fill out statement of candidacy 21 days prior to the ASBSD Delegate Assembly. ASBSD also recommends that director candidates travel to the ASBSD Region Meetings to announce their candidacy.
