ASBSD School Law Seminars scheduled in October

October is set to bring three ASBSD School Law Seminars with expert panels ready to discuss timely topics in school policy and law to South Dakota school board members and administrators.

 

Seminar sessions include seven separate 25-minute presentations by some of the state’s foremost school law experts. Topics include:

  • Copyright infringement district web sites;
  • FMLA, sick leave, sick leave banks;
  • ADA-Discrimination and Retaliation;
  • Open meetings/disruption of school board meetings, confidential information, video;
  • Emails attorney client privilege retention;
  • School case reviews;
  • Bullying-off campus conduct and online activity
  • Danielson Framework

 

The day will conclude with an hour long Q&A discussion featuring an attorney panel.

 

Seminars begin at 8 a.m. and the event is scheduled to conclude at 3 p.m.  Below are the dates and locations for the seminars:

10/23Pierre at the Redrossa Italian Grille in the Highland/Hills Ballroom (808 West Sioux Avenue)

10/24Sioux Falls at the Ramkota Hotel & Conference Center in the Lincoln Room (3200 W Maple St.)

 

Registration is required for each seminar; please contact your district’s business manager to get registered for a seminar.

 

The cost for the seminar is $150 for the first registrant per district, $115 each additional person.

 

Registration cost for non-members is $300 for the first registrant and $265 for each additional person.

 

The deadline for early registration is two weeks prior to each event (10/3 for the 10/17 seminar, 10/9 for the 10/23 seminar and 10/10 for the 10/24 seminar).

 

Registration fee includes professional workshop fees, but does not include lunch. Each location has a restaurant on site.
