South Dakota students showed positive growth in state assessments this year.

 

The South Dakota Department of Education released the 2016 South Dakota Report Card – a review of schools’ performance based on multiple indicators – on Tuesday (10/4). The report card showed students scoring proficient on the English language arts and math assessments had grown by three percent from 2015.

Students in grades 3-8 and 11 take part in the assessments and in the English language arts portion student scores increased from 49.5 percent to 52.6 percent and math scores increased from 41.3 percent to 44.3 percent.

 

“Assessment data from the report card is very positive,” ASBSD Executive Director Wade Pogany said. “It’s a good gauge of the successful practices our schools are employing at the local and state level.”
