Advocacy

ASBSD serves our members by acting as a unifying voice for local school boards and public education, representing local school boards at the state and federal level. Year round, ASBSD closely monitors legislative matters and examines the potential impact on public education. The Association strives to keep members informed on emerging and ongoing issues. Working closely with ASBSD Policy and Resolutions Committee and providing several opportunities for members to give their input on education issues allows ASBSD to build more effective and influential relationships with members and government representatives.

Each year, ASBSD’s Policy and Resolutions Committee and staff develop ASBSD’s legislative platform through our Resolutions and Standing Positions, which guide Association positions during legislative session.

ASBSD’s Policy and Resolutions Committee presents the legislative platform to the ASBSD Board of Directors for approval and then resolutions and standing positions are voted on by membership at Delegate Assembly.

During legislative session, bills ASBSD is tracking can be found on our Billtracker page, while relevant documents are posted on our Documents webpage, and opportunities to hear from your legislators during session can be found on our Legislative Crackerbarrels webpage.

Updates during legislative session and the interim, can be found on ASBSD’s On the Agenda Podcast webpage.
