The legislature’s Agricultural Land Assessment Implementation and Oversight Advisory Task Force will hold a meeting next week (Tuesday, July 22) that could impact K-12 education.
The Task Force, made up of eight legislators and six other individuals, will hear a report from a summer work group concerning the capital outlay tax and other school revenue and a presentation from S.D. Division of Property and Special Taxes Director Michael Houdyshell on the taxing authority of school districts for capital outlay.
Houdyshell will also deliver a report on the 2015 ag land assessment information.
The potential impact on K-12 remains unknown at this point, but ASBSD will monitor the meeting closely.
