ASBSD Chief Financial Officer Matt Flett recently earned the Certified Administrator of School Finance and Operations (SFO) certification by the Association for School Business Officials International (ASBO International).

 

 

The SFO Certification is granted to highly qualified individuals who fulfill multiple requirements, including demonstrating eligibility through work experience and education, passing a comprehensive two-part exam that tests competency in accounting and school business management topics and adhering to the ASBO International Certification Code of Conduct.

 

“I’m grateful to ASBO International for the opportunity to earn my SFO certification and happy to have completed the process,” Flett said.

 

 

School business officials who have earned the SFO Certification commit to ongoing professional development, renew the certification annually and undergo recertification every three years.

 

“This shows Matt’s dedication to his profession,” ASBSD Executive Director Wade Pogany said. “He’s committed to providing the best service possible to the school districts ASBSD serves and this is another step to ensure that’s possible.”

 

Flett joins a handful of school business officials throughout South Dakota to have earned the certification and is encouraging more to take advantage of the opportunity.

 

“The school business managers in South Dakota are a talented and dedicated group,” Flett said. “I hope many of them take the chance to earn the certification and would be happy to help them through the process.”
