Advocacy

You are here:

ASBSD serves our members by acting as a unifying voice for local school boards and public education, representing local school boards at the state and federal level. Year round, ASBSD closely monitors issues and examines the potential impact on education and keeps members informed on emerging and ongoing issues in public education.

ASBSD takes a year-round approach to government relations activities. Working closely with ASBSD Policy and Resolutions Committee and providing several opportunities for members to give their input on education issues allows ASBSD to build more effective and influential relationships with members and government representatives.

At ASBSD’s Delegate Assembly in November, member districts will vote on the proposed 2022 Legislative Resolutions and Standing Positions (click each link to download), which guide the legislative direction of the Association for the upcoming legislative session

ASBSD’s advocacy efforts have had extensive focus on South Dakota’s Conflict of Interest Law. We have dedicated a webpage to providing information to help school board members and administrators navigate the complex Conflict of Interest law. You can find that webpage here.
