Free telemental health services available to schools

A partnership between two state agencies is bringing mental health services to schools FREE of charge!

The Department of Education and Department of Social Services will provide schools with additional support in helping students and their families access available mental health services as well as an understanding of when/how to refer students for mental health services.

DOE has produced an in-depth memo with additional information on the program and how to begin the process of setting it up in your school, which you can DOWNLOAD HERE.

“The schools just have to contact DOE and DSS and commit to promoting the program,” ASBSD Executive Director Wade Pogany said. “A goal in our strategic plan is to address the need for and promote mental health resources for schools and ASBSD fully endorses this program.”

“This is going to be a very good thing for schools.”

If you have questions about the program, please contact Student Wellness & Supports Program Specialist Becky Cain at rebecca.cain@state.sd.us. Information can also be found at: https://doe.sd.gov/mentalhealth/.
