Make 2018 your district’s safest yet

Make 2018 your district’s safest yet with help from ASBSD and SafeSchools.

ASBSD and SafeSchools have partnered to bring each of our member districts access to a market-leading training system to meet your staff’s training needs with members of ASBPT’s Workers’ Compensation fund and  Property/Liability fund receiving access at no cost and all other ASBSD members receive the program at a 50 percent savings.

“We use SafeSchools Training for a variety of educational opportunities for staff,” Aberdeen Assistant Superintendent Camille Kaul said.

“Staff have found the system to be very user-friendly!”

SafeSchools’ training system provides state and national required training courses in driver training requirements, school meals initiative, the Civil Rights Acts, Title IX and more.

“Through ASBSD’s diligent efforts, member schools now receive a quality online training program through SafeSchools Training that is free of charge,” Timber Lake Superintendent Dan Martin said.

In addition, SafeSchools offers South Dakota school districts a one hour suicide awareness and prevention training course, which meets the state’s training requirement for the initial certificate and renewal certificate of a teacher, administrator or other educational professional.

The Youth Suicide Awareness and Prevention training requirement comes from the passage of 2016’s Senate Bill 129, which establishes certain suicide awareness and prevention training requirements for certain school employees.

“The variety of training options provides our district with what we need to ensure staff receives both mandated training and other options for continued professional growth,” Martin said.

In addition, SafeSchools publishes a monthly newsletter – School Safety Newsletter – that provides the latest news in available trainings, best practices and about the company.

The first newsletter of the New Year covers mid-year compliance checks, teen dating violence, a recap of 2017 and much more.
