SFAB seeking input from schools

A group charged to review school district compliance with the requirements of the state’s school funding formula is seeking input from school officials on their proposed rules.

Members of the School Finance Accountability Board are scheduled to meet at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 16 to review and possibly approve proposed rules for the board. SFAB members held their first review of the proposed rules in December.

The rules would establish an appeals process and a set of factors used to determine if a school district be recommended for a waiver from their accountabilities in regards to teacher compensation. Adoption of the proposed rules will inform school districts of the factors considered for a waiver.

“We would encourage those who are uncertain about the process to ask questions and those who wish to provide their input do so through the public comment option,” ASBSD Executive Director Wade Pogany said.

All public comments, suggestions or questions must be submitted by Wednesday, March 15.
