The South Dakota Department of Education is seeking an addendum, waiver and amendment to its Every Student Succeeds Act State Plan and is seeking public comment.
The proposed addendum creates a streamlined accountability process to address the impacts of COVID-19, while the waiver is specific to the 95 percent participation rate and school support designations and finally the amendment addresses changes related to English learners, migrant students and other programs that may be seeking updates to programming needs.
To review the proposed addendum, waiver and amendment visit: https://doe.sd.gov/essa/. Public comment can be submitted in the following ways:
- Email: Accountability@state.sd.us;
- Mail: South Dakota Department of Education, Attention: Megan Aadland, 800 Governors Drive, Pierre, SD 57501.
The deadline to submit public comment is Thursday, December 31, 2020 by 5 p.m. (Central).
If approved by the U.S. Department of Education, the changes to the ESSA State Plan would be reflected in the 2021 State Report Card.
