This fall’s ASBSD School Law Seminars will feature a bonus session along with the continued expert analysis in topics related to school policy and school law for school board members and administrators.
Dates and locations for the seminars include:
9/30-10/1 – Sioux Falls at the Ramkota Hotel and Conference Center (3200 West Maple Street)
10/7-8 – Aberdeen at the Ramada Inn (2727 6th Avenue SE)
10/14-15 – Rapid City at the Ramkota Hotel & Conference Center (2112 B North LaCrosse. Exit 59)
This year’s School Law Seminars offer registrants a bonus 90-minute session on “Addressing Community Complaints.” The bonus session takes place on Tuesday (the evening before Wednesday’s full-day seminar) beginning at 7 p.m.
Wednesday’s seminar slate is highlighted by discussions on open enrollment and re-entry of homeschoolers, FERPA updates reduction of liability and risk and the use of social media and electronic devices in schools among other topics. The day will conclude with a Q&A session with presenters.
Seminars begin at 8 a.m. and the event is scheduled to conclude at 3:30 p.m.
The cost for the seminar is $110 for the first registrant per district and $75 for each additional person from the district during the early registration period and $150 for the first registrant per district, $115 for each additional person after the early registration deadline.Registration cancellation must be made 72 hours prior to the meeting or a $50 fee is incurred.
The deadline for early registration is 9/19 for the seminar in Sioux Falls and 9/26 for the Aberdeen and Rapid City seminars. Registration fee includes professional workshop fees, but does not include lunch. Each location has a restaurant on site.
