South Dakota School Board Recognition Week is the time to recognize the men and women who dedicate their time and energy to serving on your locally elected school board.
“Join school districts across the state in thanking the men and women who served on their local public school board during School Board Recognition Week,” ASBSD Executive Director Wade Pogany said.
“This is a time for students, staff and community members to share their appreciation for the leadership and dedication shown by local board members.”
South Dakota School Board Recognition Week is set for February 17-21, which will take place a week after some districts are scheduled to hold their monthly meeting, but we encourage your district to recognize the men and women who tirelessly serve the students, staff and community at your February school board meeting.

Additional documents helping your district celebrate the week can be downloaded from ASBSD’s Publications and Forms page under the “Events” header, including SBRW logos, a sample press release and a certificate you can present to each individual board member commemorating School Board Recognition Week.

South Dakota School Board Recognition Week will also coincide with ASBSD Legislative Day and we invite school board members and administrators to the Capitol Building in Pierre to be honored by our legislators alongside our Outstanding School Board Member of the Year and School Board Award of Excellence recipient.
ASBSD Legislative Day is set for Tuesday, February 18 and will feature a lunch and a trip to the Capitol building, where all board members will be recognized by the House and Senate members.
