A resolution supporting raising awareness of epilepsy crossed the hall in the Capitol.

 

On a 65-0 vote, Representatives approved House Concurrent Resolution 6007, which supports students and other persons afflicted by epilepsy and raising awareness of epilepsy in South Dakota.

 

An amendment brought on the Senate floor states: WHEREAS, the Epilepsy Foundation has free online or in-person resources available to schools and the public at-large, including training programs that provide an overview of seizures and epilepsy, seizure first aid, seizure action plans, rescue therapies, seizure  emergencies, and how to support students in school settings.

 

Rep. Caleb Finck told Representatives that the Foundation did “intend to send out (information) to South Dakota schools” and added that “there a lot of children” in schools that suffer from epilepsy and the resolution was “bringing some awareness” to the condition.

 

ASBSD is monitoring the resolution, which now moves to the Senate for review.
