A bill related to insurance pooling has passed the House and is headed for the Senate.
House Bill 1090, which requires certain statements and audits concerning insurance pooling arrangements to be filed with the Department of Legislative Audit, passed the House Commerce and Energy committee on 13-0 vote and the House on a vote of 65-0.
ASBSD supports the bill, which will require the Associated School Boards Protective Trust to file an audit with the state.
ASBSD Executive Director Wade Pogany testified in favor of the bill at its committee hearing, referencing financial issues pertaining to ASBPT’s health fund and the Legislative Executive Committee and Government Operations and Audit Committee meetings that he attended and discussed the matter.
“We’ve made some major changes in our fund,” Pogany testified. “In the last six months, we’ve seen great gain.”
Pogany noted an audit of ASBPT has been completed.
HB 1090 now moves to the Senate for review. For updates, check out the ASBSD Blog, Twitter feed and Bill Tracker page.
