ASBSD’s board met last month to honor one of their members for his service as a director and pass the Fiscal Year 2023 budget.
Tom Farrell was presented a plaque for his eight years of service representing ASBSD’s Southeast Region, 700-1,399 enrollment category on the Board of Directors. Farrell served as ASBSD President in 2018-19 and as a member of the Board of Director’s Executive Committee for four years. He will be leaving the Madison Central School Board in June after more than 10-years of service.
“Tom is a model school board member, and his exemplary leadership has been felt both locally and statewide,” ASBSD Executive Director Wade Pogany said. “We will miss his personality and presence, as much as his insight on public education, but we’re thankful for having had his experience on the board.”
The ASBSD Board also approved a $2.144 million budget for the FY23, which includes no dues increase for members beyond the calculation using a member’s Fiscal Year 2021 general fund expenditures as noted in the Department of Education’s statistical digest.
ASBSD Chief Financial Officer Holly Nagel shared with directors the budget includes “flexibility and adjustability” to account for high inflationary costs.
In addition, the Board:
- Approved the ASBSD Financial Report;
- Heard an update on the Protective Trust funds;
- Discussed advocacy topics stemming from the 2022 legislative session, as well as the Association’s strategic plan.
