Governor Kristi Noem proclaimed September to be Suicide Prevention Month.
In conjunction, the South Dakota Department of Education is inviting school administrators, counselors, teachers and board members to attend one of two webinars on Model School Policy: Suicide Prevention.
The webinars will be held Tuesday, September 29 at 10-11 a.m. (Central) and 2-3 p.m. (Central).
Click here to register for either webinar.
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention will provide an overview of the Model School District Policy on Suicide Prevention. Developed in collaboration with the American School Counselor Association, the National Association of School Psychologists and The Trevor Project, the program outlined in the model policy is research-based and easily adaptable for middle and high schools.
The event is being offered as part of the South Dakota Suicide Prevention State Plan with suicide prevention resources for schools and the statewide, cross-departmental suicide prevention plan available online for review.
Questions about the webinars can be directed to CTE School Counseling & Career Development Specialist Andrea Diehm at Andrea.Diehm@state.sd.us or at 605-773-4150.
