Just one legislative hurdle remains before a bill ensuring audit reports are in the hands of board members reaches the governor.
House Appropriators passed Senate Bill 100, which establishes certain provisions related to grant monitoring and review, on an 8-0 vote.
ASBSD supports the bill.
“We agree wholeheartedly with the pieces you see in front of you,” ASBSD Executive Director Wade Pogany testified. “We strongly believe that every school board member should have a copy of the audit and should understand what’s in the audit.”
Pogany went on to tell committee members the Association will implement a board specific training for members to better understand their district’s audit and ask the necessary questions related to the document.
“We want to make sure every school board understands they’re accountable,” Pogany said.
SB 100 now heads to the House floor for review.
