Lutkemeier passes ASBSD Gavel to Stroeder
ASBSD saw its gavel passed and a new President take the helm.
Wilmot School Board President Denise Lutkemeier completed her year-long term as President of ASBSD by passing the gavel to Mobridge-Pollock School Board Chairman Eric Stroeder.
“It has truly been an honor to work for this organization and serve it,” Lutkemeier told her fellow Directors on the ASBSD Board.
Lutkemeier has represented the Northeast Region’s 265 and Under enrollment category since 2008 and this marked the second term she has completed as ASBSD President. She will continue to be a member of the Association’s Executive Committee as Past President.
“I’m just delighted to sing Denise’s praises as a leader,” ASBSD Executive Director Wade Pogany said. “She’s a great representative for South Dakota and our organization.”
Pogany noted about Stroeder that he “possesses excellent leadership skills and experience” and “has dedicated many hours to serving public education both locally and at the state level.”
Stroeder takes charge of the 18-member Board of Directors on which he has represented the Central Region’s 266-699 enrollment category since 2012.
This term marks Stroeder’s second as President of ASBSD, having previously served in the role from 2015 to 2016 during which time he was an instrumental member of the Blue Ribbon Task Force, which developed the proposal to increase teacher pay.
“We’re looking forward to an excellent year with Eric back as President of the ASBSD Board of Directors,” Pogany said.
The 2020-21 school year marks Stroeder’s ninth as a member of the Mobridge-Pollock school board, on which he is also serving his fourth term as Chairman after previously being Vice Chairman for four years. He is a Civil Engineer with the State of South Dakota.
“It’s so nice to be able to look out and see your faces,” Stroeder told his fellow Directors. “I thank you for the opportunity to do this.”
