Training addresses emergency planning

Schools will have the opportunity to participate in training related to emergency planning in June.

South Dakota’s Office of Emergency Management will host Multi-Hazard Emergency Planning for Schools on Wednesday and Thursday, June 13-14 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Mitchell.

The course provides participants with the knowledge, skills and tools needed to refine or develop an all-hazards school Emergency Operations Plan, which includes how to assess potential hazards, and building and testing the plan based off those hazards, as well as building partnerships with outside agencies such as law enforcement, fire and emergency management.

Participants are encouraged to bring any current plans for their school, as they will be used during class.
