The August ASBSD Board of Director’s meeting signaled conclusion of one excellent presidential term and the promising beginning of another.
Denise Lutkemeier, Wilmot School Board Vice President, completed her tenure as ASBSD President by “passing the gavel” to Mobridge-Pollock School Board Vice President Eric Stroeder at the Aug. 5 meeting of the Board of Directors.
“It has been an eye opening and awesome year,” Lutkemeier said. “I really have appreciated working with all of you.”
A member of the ASBSD Board since 2008, Lutkemeier now assumes the role of Past President and will continue working with Board of Director’s Executive Committee.
“Denise is a great example for working as a board member to improve education for kids,” ASBSD Executive Director Wade Pogany said.
Stroeder now takes lead of the 18-member Board of Directors. He has sat on the ASBSD Board – representing the Central Region’s 266-669 enrollment category – since 2012.
Stroeder is currently a member of the Blue Ribbon Task Force and last year took part in a workgroup that examined the capital outlay levy of schools.
“Eric is well versed and entrenched in statewide issues related to public schools,” Pogany said.
“Under his leadership, our advocacy efforts for the state’s students, school boards and school districts will continue to thrive, as will the Association overall.”
