Associated School Boards of South Dakota extends condolences and sympathies to the family, friends and colleagues of Representative Jim Schaefer.

 

“The news of Rep. Schaefer’s untimely passing is saddening,” ASBSD Executive Director Wade Pogany said. “We ask everyone to keep his family in their thoughts and prayers.”

 

Rep. Schaefer served eight years in the House of Representatives, including four years as a member of the House Education committee. Pogany recalled Rep. Schaefer’s affable manner and efforts in advocating.

 

“Rep. Schaefer was a pleasure to work with. He was cordial and welcoming at the Capitol” Pogany said. “He was an honorable and honest public servant and a strong advocate for the citizens of South Dakota.”

 

“His commitment to the state will be missed, but we’ll remember his mission in service.”
