For the second consecutive year more than one-third of public school boards earned statewide recognition for their dedicated participation in activities, board development and training and demonstrated leadership at various areas and levels.
In the third year of ASBSD’s board recognition program: ALL, which stands for Act, Learn, Lead, 52 school boards earned a Gold, Silver or Bronze award.
“There’s a clear dedication amongst these school leaders to enhance public education both locally and statewide,” ASBSD Executive Director Wade Pogany said.
ALL recognized board members’ participation in outside activities, board development and training, and demonstrated leadership at a variety of levels, with points earned by participating in ASBSD activities, training opportunities and demonstrating leadership at the local, state and national level throughout the fiscal year (July 1-June 30), with GAVEL Training counting for a total of three years.
ALL’s Gold Level earners reached the 500 point level, Silver Level honorees earned 350 points and Bronze Level boards picked up 250 points. Eighteen school boards – the most in the three year span of the program – achieved Gold Level status, 16 boards were Silver Level honorees and 18 attained the Bronze Level.
The Deubrook Area School Board earned the most ALL points for the year at 1,075 followed by Lyman at 855, McLaughlin at 790, Howard at 785 and, rounding out the top five, Rapid City at 765. ALL award earners, including those in the top 5, are:
