A guide for school board candidates

Is your district in need of a method for preparing potential school board candidates for or updating current school board members on their role on the board?


ASBSD Leadership Development Director Dr. Randy Royer has revised and updated a brief video guide (and printable presentation) to share with candidates and current members.


“The updated guide outlines steps for interested individuals in becoming a school board candidate, the expectations and responsibilities of a school board member and the unique aspects of being and what makes a good board member,” Royer said.

“We want new school board candidates and school districts to utilize this as a tool to help prepare members for their pivotal role in South Dakota’s public education system,” Royer said.
