A bill expediating the study of teacher pay passed the Senate.

 

On a 34-0 vote, Senators passed Senate Bill 95, which changes the timeline for the Teacher Compensation Review Board to meet from every 3 years to every 2 years.

 

“I believe this board should meet more frequently,” Sen. Jim Bolin, the bill’s sponsor said on the Senate floor. “A three year gap between meetings is too long.”

 

Sen. Bolin noted “the success of maintaining a qualified teaching force” may get more difficult as the years go on with Sen. Lee Schoenbeck speaking in favor of the bill saying the Teacher Compensation Review Board’s report has “really good information about the status of education and funding in our state compared to other states.”

 

ASBSD supports the bill, which now moves to the House for review.
