ASBSD starts the fiscal year with a new spin on a past event as we’ll be hosting three School Board President Workshops on July 26 in Aberdeen, July 28 in Rapid City and August 3 in Sioux Falls, in place of President’s Retreat.
The New School Board Member Workshops will also be held on the same three dates in the same South Dakota cities, as well.
Check each event’s registration link on our Events Page for additional information.
Following the ASBSD-SASD Convention on August 4-5 in Sioux Falls, ASBSD Executive Director will head out on his annual tour of South Dakota with 10 region meeting stops scheduled. Find dates for meetings in the school districts of Deuel, Madison, Yankton, Lyman, Lead-Deadwood, Douglas, Faith, Aberdeen, Mobridge-Pollock and Miller on the Events Page.
Three school law seminars – in Pierre, Rapid City and Sioux Falls – will again offer a Tuesday night bonus session related to a board specific topic in October. Delegate Assembly, which sets the legislative direction for the Association, will take place in Pierre on November 18.
With legislative session underway in 2017, ASBSD LAN Trainings will be held on two Saturdays in January in Sioux Falls and Rapid City AND this year we’ll host a webinar for members not able to attend the in-person sessions on Wednesday, January 25.
February brings ASBSD’s Legislative Day, which offers board members and administrators the opportunity to meet and have lunch with their area legislators, visit the Capitol and honor school board members as part of South Dakota School Board Recognition Week – running from February 20-24.
Following legislative session, Collective Bargaining Seminars will be held on three dates in March in Pierre, Sioux Falls and Rapid City. The Associated School Boards Protective Trust will hold a membership meeting in Fort Pierre the same month.
In April, ASBSD, in conjunction with the office of Gov. Dennis Daugaard, will honor the top students from the Class of 2017 at the Academic Excellence Luncheon.
Check each event’s registration link on our Events Page for additional information and we will continue to send email reminders, as well as post information on our website, about each upcoming event.
We ask that Business Managers continue to complete registration for individuals who wish to attend an ASBSD event. Registration instructions will be provided in advance of events.
Please note:
- ASBSD Board of Directors meetings, Delegate Assembly, the Academic Excellence Luncheon and ASBPT Membership Meeting will not have a registration link added;
