Clean Diesel Grant Program available for schools

South Dakota public school districts are invited to apply for funding from the South Dakota Clean Diesel Grant Program, which provides funds as rebates for the purchase of a new public school bus to replace an old, high-emitting diesel public school bus.

The S.D. Department of Environment and Natural Resources provides the rebates and administers the Program with a primary goal to reduce school children’s exposure to both fine particulate and smog-forming pollution.

Download the School Bus Replacement Application in PDF or DOCX.

Preference will be given to any public school district that has not received a replacement bus in previous rounds of program application with replacement bus funding awarded to replace older buses first. S.D. DENR intends to award funds to as many eligible applicants as possible.

Applications are due by 5 p.m. on December 15, 2017 and can be sent to:

Funds cannot be used for replacement buses that would have occurred through normal attrition/fleet turnover within three years of the project start date and bus purchases must not occur before school districts execute an agreement with S.D. DENR.
