Four board members to take seats on ASBSD BOD in August

Four board members will take their seats on the ASBSD Board of Directors in August.

Three members will continue their tenures on the board – Duane Alm of Aberdeen, Pam Haukaas of Colome Consolidated and Anita Peterson of Haakon – while the Board of Directors will welcome new a member, Ellie Saxer of Brandon Valley.

Each director will begin their four-year term on the ASBSD Board of Directors in August.

Alm will represent the Northeast Region, 1,400-9,999 enrollment category. The veteran board member from Aberdeen has served nearly two decades on his local board and more than 15 years on the ASBSD Board, which included two terms as ASBSD President.

“Duane brings immense experience to our board and we’re thankful for his continued commitment to his local district and school boards statewide,” ASBSD Executive Director Wade Pogany said.

The Central Region, 265 & Under enrollment category will be represented Haukaas, who has sat on her local board nearly 20 years. Haukaas has sat on the ASBSD Board since 2008 and in her tenure has served ASBSD President and was a member of the ASBSD Executive Team for four years.

“Pam is a wonderful advocate for public schools and she has represented public school boards in her region and across the state admirably while on the ASBSD Board,” Pogany said. “We appreciate her continued service to the Association and public education.”

Districts in the Western Region, 266-699 enrollment category will have Peterson representing them on the ASBSD Board. For nearly three decades, Peterson has been a member of the Haakon School Board and since 2008 she has served as an ASBSD Board of Director, during which time she has served as ASBSD President and on the ASBSD Executive Team for four years.

“Anita is a dedicated public servant who has been a strong voice in support of public education,” Pogany said. “We’re grateful she continues to share her knowledge and expertise with our Board and school boards statewide.”

Brandon Valley School Board Member Ellie Saxer joins the ASBSD Board as a representative for the Southeast Region, 1,400-9,999 enrollment category. Saxer has served on her local board for three years during which time she has led and served on a multitude of district committees and has also represented her board at ASBSD’s Delegate Assembly and at Legislative Day.

“We’re thrilled to have Ellie join the ASBSD Board,” Pogany said. “We look forward to working with her and benefitting from her perspective on public education.”
