Recently, Tiffany Sanderson was appointed as Secretary of Education by Gov. Kristi Noem.
The Governor’s appointment of Sanderson is effective December 9, 2020. Sanderson, who currently serves a senior policy advisor for Gov. Noem, will succeed Dr. Ben Jones, who has been named the new executive director of the South Dakota State Historical Society.
“Tiffany will be a great leader for the Department of Education, and a true champion for our students, educators, and schools,” Gov Noem said in a statement.
Sanderson currently serves as a senior policy advisor for Gov. Noem, which included work in K-12 education, higher education, and workforce development and prior to joining the Governor’s Office led South Dakota’s career and technical education system at the Department of Education.
“We look forward to working with Tiffany in her role as Secretary of Education,” ASBSD Executive Director Wade Pogany said. “We have had a good working relationship with her during her tenure in the Governor’s office and expect that will continue.”
The Senate Education Committee and Senate will hold hearings during the 2021 legislative session to approve the appointment of Sanderson.
