S.D. School Board Recognition Week set for February

South Dakota School Board Recognition Week is the time to recognize the men and women who dedicated their time and energy to serving on your locally elected school board.

“School Board Recognition Week presents your district an opportunity to publicly thank the men and women who serve on your local board of education,” ASBSD Executive Director Wade Pogany said.

“We hope it’s a time your students, staff and community can share their appreciation for the leadership provided by board members.”

South Dakota School Board Recognition Week is set for February 20-24, which will coincide with ASBSD Legislative Day. ASBSD invites school board members and administrators to the Capitol Building to be honored by our legislators alongside our School Board Member of the Year and School Board Award of Excellence recipient.

Legislative Day

ASBSD Legislative Day is set for Tuesday, February 21 and will feature a lunch and a trip to the Capitol building, where all board members will be recognized by the House and Senate members.

South Dakota School Board Recognition Week will take place a week after some districts are scheduled to hold their monthly meeting, but at your February board meeting we encourage you to recognize the men and women who tirelessly serve the students, staff and community in your district.
