Sit down with your legislators and discuss key public ed. issues

Before we know it, legislative session will be here along with bills aplenty dealing with public education.

ASBSD is requesting school boards and administrators sit down with there local legislators this fall to discuss the upcoming session and advocate for their support of South Dakota’s public education system.

“Public education could face another challenging legislative session,” ASBSD Executive Director Wade Pogany said. “There’s been a few difficult sessions, and we’ve won some debates and lost others, and I don’t doubt there will be tests in 2022, as well.”

ASBSD will be providing a list of questions to superintendents, business managers and school board members that can spark the discussion with legislators via email in the near future. You can download here the list of legislators who represent your district here and each of their contact information here.

“Board members and administrators must meet with their legislators, ask important questions and have detailed discussions about where they stand on the issues and challenges public education faces,” Pogany said.

At the Wednesdays with Wade meetings – dates can be found here – these matters will be discussed more in-depth and if you have questions, please contact Pogany at wpogany@asbsd.org or Director of Communications Tyler Pickner at tpickner@asbsd.org.
