Five important sample policies related to the legal system in some manner received rewrites or updates to its language.
The amended policies include:
- JEA: Compulsory Attendance Ages, which aligns language in the policy with state statute, references to alternative instruction and removes reference to the School-Based program, as it is referenced in other sample policies;
- JFCL: Student Registered Sex Offenders, which rewrites the sample policy to align with the law;
- JFG: Student Searches, which changes the sample policy’s title and rewrites the policy;
- JFGA: Law Enforcement and Department of Social Services Student Interviews, which includes significant additions to law enforcement interview procedure in the policy;
- JHG: Reporting Child Abuse, which adds human trafficking to the definition of an abused or neglected child.
“These five policies are all very important for school districts to have in their policy books,” ASBSD Director of Policy & Legal Services Jessica Filler said.
“We recommend school districts review these rewrites and updates as soon as is practical.”
